Pedagogy of the Oppressed
The Party for Socialism and Liberation invites you to participate in a free reading group on Paulo Freire’s “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” at the Milwaukee Liberation Center/Centro de Lucha Popular.
Freire is considered the founder of popular education. In “Pedagogy of the Oppressed,” Freire confronts the holy grail of social change – how can masses of people be mobilized in their own collective interests to build a new society. He proposed a dialogical approach to education and organizing, grounded in the daily experiences of people living in capitalist society.
The reading group will cover one chapter each week. Participants are expected to read the material prior to class, and bring questions, commentary or lessons that are applicable to your own organizing work for discussion.
