LINCOLN AVENUE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Help us fill a bin for each classroom! 

On June 30th, Lincoln Avenue School on the Southside of Milwaukee burned down in a massive fire that has left the school unsalvageable. From now until August 21st – drop off school supplies for the students and teachers who lost everything in the fire! 

Thanks to all the wonderful local businesses, who have partnered with us as host sites, we are able to provide over a dozen readily accessible drop off locations across the city.

*If you live on the west side of Milwaukee drop donations off at MPS Central Services– this is where all donations will eventually be delivered to. 

WHAT TO DONATE: 

NEW OR GENTLY USED books, school supplies, and classroom supplies, such as: notebooks, pencils, erasers, markers, crayons, kids scissors, glue/glue sticks, tissue, dry erase markers, construction paper, looseleaf paper, electric pencil sharpeners, post-its, etc.

ADDRESSING THE ROOT CAUSES OF THIS DISASTER 

In addition to meeting the community’s immediate needs, we will continue to organize in support of FULLY FUNDING PUBLIC EDUCATION! This disaster was preventable. Lincoln Avenue had no sprinkler system and that is not uncommon. Only about 28% of the MPS’s 144 buildings have sprinklers. Fully funding our schools means every school should be fitted with every safety measure necessary to prevent disasters like this.
